RISE Jr Nba League
In 2014 Raising Champions began promoting adult mens basketball leagues. As a part the expansion of the organizational goals in 2024 Raising Champions plans to expand into youth sports. Headed by Coach C.J. May locally our Jr. NBA youth basketball program was created by the National Basketball Association (NBA) to promote and develop the sport among young players. RISE Jr. Nba League is proud to partner with the JrNba program to teach fundamental basketball skills, promote physical activity, and instill values such as teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
Below are a few key components of our Jr. NBA League Program:
Age Groups: The Jr. NBA caters to various age groups, typically ranging from 6 to 14 years old. Different divisions or age brackets may exist within the program to ensure that participants are playing against others of similar age and skill levels.
Skill Development: The program emphasizes skill development through structured drills, coaching, and practice sessions. Coaches and organizers aim to help young players build a strong foundation in basketball fundamentals, including shooting, passing, dribbling, and defensive skills.
Team Play: The Jr. NBA League encourages teamwork and cooperation among participants. Players are organized into teams, and they have the opportunity to compete against other teams within their age group. The league format may include regular season games followed by playoffs or championships.
Values and Sportsmanship: Beyond basketball skills, the Jr. NBA places a strong emphasis on promoting positive values and sportsmanship. Participants are expected to demonstrate respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials.
Coaching and Mentorship: Trained coaches and mentors often lead the Jr. NBA program, providing guidance and support to young players. These individuals are responsible for teaching the game, fostering a positive learning environment, and serving as role models for sportsmanship and fair play.
Community Engagement: The Jr. NBA often collaborates with local communities, schools, and basketball organizations to reach a broader audience. Community engagement may include basketball clinics, outreach events, and partnerships with schools to integrate the program into physical education curricula.
National Events: In some cases, the Jr. NBA may organize national events, tournaments, or All-Star experiences where standout players from local leagues have the opportunity to showcase their skills on a larger stage.
